About this board game

Skyjo Action is a tactical card game for 2–8 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Each player builds a 3×4 tableau of 12 cards, with two cards face up and the rest hidden.

On a turn, take the top card from the discard pile or draw pile. Exchange it with any hidden or face-up card in your tableau, or discard the drawn card to reveal one of your hidden cards. The round ends when one player has revealed their entire tableau, then everyone reveals their remaining cards and adds their points.

Cards range from -2 to 12, and the goal is to finish with the lowest score. The game ends when a player reaches 100 points or more. Matching sets can help you reduce your total: whenever a column of three cards has the same value, discard the entire column. Skyjo Action also adds a rule for discarding rows of identical cards.

  • Action Cards: Take special moves such as exchanging cards in your tableau, exchanging cards between players, stealing an Action Card, or taking two turns in a row.
  • Joker Cards: Make set collection easier and can create especially valuable sets worth -10 or -15 points.
  • Flexible turns: Take an Action Card instead of making a normal move, or gain one when you place or reveal a Joker in your tableau.

High cards are often discarded by other players, making the discard pile an important source of opportunities. You may even choose to collect matching high cards, hoping to remove them together while managing the risks of hidden information.

With its combination of tableau management, set collection, revealing cards, and take-that actions, Skyjo Action gives the familiar low-score challenge a more interactive and tactical edge.
