About this board game

Skyline 3000 is a board game for 2–4 players, played in about 60 minutes, in which corporations compete to develop city districts on orbiting planets.

Players assemble city buildings in orbit before installing them onto specially prepared platforms in the city districts. The central goal is to construct the most living space in blocks featuring the most desirable improvements, turning careful development into valuable points.

Improvements give districts different kinds of appeal. The game highlights three notable features:

  • Greenspaces
  • Spaceports
  • Megamalls

Players also have the option to erect Billboards at a loss. These can entice customers while reserving space for future construction, adding another consideration to the competition between corporations.

Skyline 3000 unfolds over four rounds. During the game, players balance the construction of living space with the pursuit of blocks containing desirable improvements, while deciding when a Billboard is worth using to support future plans.

At the end of the fourth round, players compare their points. The corporation that has earned the most is the most successful developer and wins the game.

Released in 2009, Skyline 3000 re-implements Capitol. Its setting combines orbital construction with city development, while its objective remains clear: create valuable living space and finish as the leading developer.
