About this board game

Solani is an abstract tile-laying and drafting game for 1–4 players, with sessions lasting about 60 minutes. Players populate the night sky by assembling beautiful constellations from uniquely shaped tiles.

Each turn, players select two different shapes of tiles through Solani’s distinctive double-headed snake draft. The chosen pieces are then laid onto a personal board, where every placement contributes to a larger constellation puzzle.

Creating the sky involves more than simply fitting tiles together. Players must properly connect the stars, observe the roaming planets, and correctly identify where celestial bodies belong as they work toward completing their constellations in the best possible way.

The game unfolds over twelve rounds. As the sky takes shape, the personal boards become records of each player’s developing constellation arrangement, combining tile placement with the challenge of recognizing the correct locations for the stars and planets.

At the end of the twelve rounds, Coyote grows impatient. He grabs the edge of the buckskin rug and tosses the remaining quartz skyward, creating the Milky Way. With its unusual drafting system and celestial theme, Solani turns each session into a focused exercise in assembling a night sky from distinctive pieces.
