About this board game

Star Scrappers: Orbital is a strategic space station card game for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Designed by Jacob Fryxelius, it places you in command of an orbital being built in the asteroid belt known as the Sybil Cloud.

Hexis, the most desired mineral in the Galaxy, has attracted miners and corporations to this dangerous frontier. Your goal is to provide accommodation for those miners while growing your station and building a profitable enterprise in the Star Scrappers space-western universe.

Each game unfolds over five years, represented by five rounds. You begin with a core module tile, then expand your orbital by paying for and placing new module cards. At the start of each year, you receive a five-card hand, crew tokens, and new money; the structure of your orbital determines how much crew and money you get.

  • Build new modules by spending money.
  • Use module actions and the special effects provided by your crew.
  • Play event cards, repair your station, or pass.

Players take turns performing actions until everyone passes and the year ends. Victory points are then awarded across six module types, represented by different colors: the player or players with the most modules of each type earn a point. After the fifth year, the player with the most victory points wins.

With its streamlined mechanics and updated presentation, Star Scrappers: Orbital combines station expansion, resource management, card play, and majority competition. Its setting features ambitious Terrons, cybernetic Biosses, expansive Weedlocks, mechanical Metanels, mysterious Minegglers, and other inhabitants of a Galaxy shaped by exploration, commerce, and the legacy of interstellar conflict.
