About this board game

Stone Garden is a 2014 board game for 2–4 players that takes about 75 minutes, casting everyone as a gardener creating an aesthetic Japanese rock garden.

Each player develops a personal garden board by placing tiles of sand and moss side by side. The arrangement of these tiles shapes the garden you are trying to make, turning careful placement into the foundation of your design.

When you meditate by your garden, you earn virtue points. These points can be spent on favorite rocks, giving you another way to elevate your garden and pursue a more impressive arrangement.

  • Place sand and moss tiles on your garden board.
  • Meditate by your garden to earn virtue points.
  • Spend virtue points on favorite rocks.
  • Use special effects associated with famous garden architects from history.

The game also brings historical inspiration to the garden through famous architects. Their presence allows special effects affecting the garden to be achieved, adding distinctive possibilities to the process of building your design.

In Stone Garden, the goal is to make the most aesthetic garden. From the side-by-side placement of sand and moss to the use of virtue and favorite rocks, each part of the experience centers on shaping and elevating a personal garden.
