About this board game

Strat-O-Matic Baseball is a 1–2-player baseball game with approximately 45 minutes of play time, first released in 1962. It places you in the role of a team manager and/or general manager, using statistical player cards to realistically reproduce each player’s performance for the represented season.

Build your lineup and choose a starting pitcher before directing the action on the field. During the game, you control a wide range of strategic decisions, from aggressive plays to changes in personnel and defense.

• Set the batting order and select a starting pitcher.
• Choose strategies such as hit-and-run plays, steals, intentional walks, and bunting.
• Position infielders and make defensive substitutions.
• Manage pinch hitters and pitching changes.

The classic cards and dice version has been available since 1962. A computer version automatically looks up play outcomes and compiles player, team, and league statistics, making it easier to track results across extended play.

For players who want to follow an entire baseball campaign, Strat-O-Matic Baseball can produce remarkably realistic statistics at the player, team, and league levels over a full season. The game’s statistical probabilities are designed around the real-life performance of the players represented by each set.
