The Battle of Five Armies Collector’s Edition is a stand-alone board game for two players, recreating the fierce struggle at the end of Bilbo Baggins’s quest for the Lonely Mountain in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Games are listed with a play time of approximately 240 minutes, offering an expansive confrontation for two.

Developed by Francesco Nepitello, Marco Maggi, and Roberto Di Meglio—the design team behind War of the Ring—the game combines action dice and event cards. Its Fate Track manages the arrival of allies and the triggering of special events, adding a distinct layer to the battle’s unfolding story.

Key characters from the conflict feature prominently, including Bilbo, Gandalf, Thorin, Dain, the Elven King, Bard, Beorn, and Bolg. Each is represented by a unique sculpture and has powerful special abilities.

This limited Collector’s Edition upgrades the components of the regular edition with a deluxe presentation and 126 hand-painted figures. It includes:

• A deluxe large-size game board and hardcover rulebook on high-quality textured paper
• 13 limited-edition action dice and 10 limited-edition combat dice
• 92 tarot-size limited-edition cards and 11 deluxe character and unit cards
• Three cloth recruitment bags, a fate token bag, and 170 deluxe counters
• Two deluxe player aids and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity

The Battle of Five Armies Collector’s Edition also contains The Fate of Erebor, a previously unreleased mini-expansion with rules and components reflecting the game’s outcome in War of the Ring Second Edition. The edition has a single print run limited to 1,500 copies and was released in 2021.
