About this board game
The Ladybug’s Costume Party is a cooperative children’s game for 2–6 players, with plays lasting about 30 minutes. Players work together to prepare all eight ladybugs for a festive ball by giving each one five spots in different colors.
On each turn, a player spins the board’s spinner. If it points to one of the ladybugs, that ladybug can visit the others. Each ladybug has a magnet in its nose, creating a playful attraction test as it meets another bug.
If the visiting ladybug “likes” the ladybug it approaches, the two may swap spots. The visiting ladybug can then continue visiting other ladybugs during the same turn. If the two ladybugs do not like each other, the turn ends.
- Move a selected ladybug between the others.
- Use magnetic attraction to determine whether spots can be swapped.
- Collect five spots of different colors on each ladybug.
- Take a fully dressed ladybug out of play and get it ready for the ball.
The spinner can also point to one of the smaller leaves. In that case, no ladybug moves, and the player must advance the ants along the side of the board instead. Each of the seven ants takes two moves to get onto the board, steadily increasing the pressure on the players.
The group wins when every ladybug is ready for the ball. However, if all seven ants make it onto the board, the players lose. With its shared objective, colorful spot swapping, and magnetic ladybug encounters, The Ladybug’s Costume Party combines simple choices with a race against the ants.
