About this expansion

The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – The Watcher in the Water is a 2012 Adventure Pack scenario for 1–2 players, with a play time of about 60 minutes.

Elrond, the Elf Lord of Rivendell, is troubled by the great numbers of Orcs that have plagued the heroes who escorted his daughter, Arwen Undómiel, across the Misty Mountains. He asks the heroes to explore the mines of Moria and determine whether they are the source of the increased Orc activity.

Before the heroes can enter Moria’s vast network of tunnels, they must first gain entrance. Their journey leads through dangerous surroundings and toward a violent confrontation with the creature known as the Watcher in the Water.

  • Explore the entrance to the mines of Moria.
  • Survive the perils of the fetid Swamps.
  • Face ferocious combat with the Watcher’s many Tentacles.
  • Investigate the cause of the increased Orc activity in the Misty Mountains.

As the third Adventure Pack in the Dwarrowdelf cycle, The Watcher in the Water continues the heroes’ journey into Middle-earth. The scenario begins before they pass through the Doors of Durin, placing the challenge of reaching Moria at the heart of the adventure.

A copy of The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game Core Set and the Khazad-dûm Expansion is required to play this scenario. With those products, players can take on this perilous exploration and confront one of the most dangerous obstacles guarding the way into Moria.
