About this board game
Timeline: British History is a chronological card game for 2–8 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Players race to get rid of their cards by placing historical events in the correct order.
Each card shows an event on both sides, but the year appears on only one side. On your turn, choose a card from your hand and place it in the growing timeline on the table, judging where it belongs among the cards already played.
After placing the card, reveal its date. If the event is positioned correctly in chronological order, it stays in the timeline. If it is out of order, the card is removed from play and you draw another card from the deck.
- Players: 2–8
- Playing time: 30 minutes
- Cards: 109 in the first edition or 55 in the second edition
- Core challenge: place events in chronological order
The first player to correctly play all the cards in their hand wins. If several players go out during the same round, the other players are eliminated from play and each successful player receives one more card for a bonus round.
If only one player has no cards after that bonus round, they win. Otherwise, play continues until a single player goes out. Timeline: British History can also be combined with any other title in the Timeline series, giving your chronological card game more ways to play.
