About this board game

Treasure of the Dragons is a memory game for children that plays in about 20 minutes with 2–5 players. First released in 2003 as Schatz der Drachen, it challenges players to collect as many cards as possible from a face-down 7×7 grid.

At the beginning of the game, all 49 cards are placed face down on the table. During a turn, a player reveals cards one at a time and may continue uncovering cards until choosing to stop—or until a revealed card forces the turn to end.

The cards create a tense risk-and-reward challenge. Jewels and dragons can be collected individually, while treasure chest cards require a set of four before they can be taken. A spider immediately prevents the player from collecting anything during that turn.

Dragons have a special rule: revealing one ends the turn only when the player has also revealed other types of cards, such as treasure chests. This makes each decision important as players try to remember the grid and judge how far to push their luck.

  • 49 cards arranged in a 7×7 face-down grid
  • Collect jewels and dragons individually
  • Collect treasure chests in groups of four
  • Spiders stop a player from taking cards
  • Uncollected cards are returned face down at the end of a turn

When a player stops voluntarily, they collect the eligible sets they have revealed. All cards not collected are flipped face down again, preserving the memory challenge for future turns. The game ends when every card except the spiders has been collected, and the player with the most cards wins.

With its simple rules and changing face-down grid, Treasure of the Dragons combines memory with careful decisions and a little suspense on every reveal.
