Unspeakable Words: Deluxe Edition is a 30-minute word game for 2–8 players, where forming words earns points but may also cost your sanity.

Build words from the letter cards in your hand, with each letter valued according to the number of angles in its shape. The hounds of Tindalos are lurking within those angles, so a high-scoring word can be tempting—and dangerous.

After making a word, roll the 20-sided die to test its strength. Roll equal to or higher than the value of your word and you are safe. Roll lower than that value, however, and you lose one precious piece of sanity, represented by an adorable Cthulhu pawn.

Every letter features a horrifying character inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, giving the game a distinctive blend of cosmic horror and dark whimsy. The Deluxe Edition also features artwork by famed artist John Kovalic, along with special multi-colored pawns, a dice and pawn bag, and additional cards.

Since its release in 2007, Unspeakable Words has received strong reviews, including Games Magazine’s Word Game of the Year and the Best Party Board Game at the BoardGameGeek Golden Geek Awards. Released in 2015, this Deluxe Edition builds on the flexible word-game system with five pawns each in eight colors, supporting play for up to eight players.
