About this board game

Waters of Nereus is a board game for 2–4 players that plays in about 60 minutes. Set in a fabulous world of vast seas and wonderful treasures, it puts each player in command of a capable and talented crew.

The game lasts six rounds. At the start of each round, a round card is flipped to show how many crew members can be activated. Players then simultaneously choose a crew member to use before resolving their choices in turn order.

Every crew member has a distinct responsibility aboard the ship:

• The captain determines the best direction to sail.
• The pilot and first mate maneuver the ship through the ocean.
• The purser controls your funds.
• The scientist performs important research.
• The merchant buys your treasures.
• The boatswain controls the equipment.

As you explore and collect treasures, you must decide how to make the most of your growing haul. Treasures can be used to pay off crew members, earning victory points while also providing additional actions.

This creates a concise sequence of choices throughout the six rounds: select a crew member, carry out the action in turn order, gather treasures, and decide when to convert them into points and further opportunities. With simultaneous selection and a changing limit on crew activation each round, every decision contributes to your progress across the sea.
