Wing Leader: Victories 1940-1942 (Second Edition) is a two-player board game of massed daylight air battles, with sessions lasting around 180 minutes.

One player commands the raiders, leading bombers through to their target. The other takes the role of the defender, using fighters to gain altitude and intercept the incoming force before it can complete the raid.

The game presents combat from a distinctive side-view perspective. Forces maneuver vertically and end-to-end along the path of the raid, making height a crucial concern as formations approach one another. Players must exploit the Sun and cloud for advantage while deciding whether to mass or divide their formations.

If the fighters fail to stop the raiders, enemy bombers will rain down bombs on the men and ships below. Every decision contributes to the larger challenge of directing a force at wing strength or greater. In Wing Leader: Victories 1940-1942, you are the Wing Leader.
