About this board game
Zoo Break is a cooperative crisis-management board game for 2–5 players, with games lasting around 45 minutes. Players take on the roles of zookeepers responding to a computer malfunction at Bedlam Zoo, where enclosure gates have short-circuited and the animals are escaping.
Work together to round up the animals, prevent them from reaching the zoo exit, and lock their enclosures before the situation gets out of control. Every turn presents difficult choices as you decide how best to spend a limited supply of actions.
- Move around the zoo and collect supplies.
- Trade resources with fellow zookeepers.
- Capture animals and lock their enclosures.
- Evade injury and respond to challenges caused by marauding animals.
Cooperation and adaptability are essential. Players must anticipate how the animals will move, coordinate their skills and resources, and adjust their plans as new problems arise. Escape and Move cards control the animals with maximum variability, creating different situations from game to game.
Zoo Break combines suspenseful decision-making with a playful zoo-escape theme. Its challenges are complex enough to engage adults while remaining inviting for ambitious, game-loving kids.
Difficulty can be adjusted at the start of the game through a simple card-selection mechanism. This lets players tailor the crisis to their group while facing the same central task: regain control of the zoo before the escaping animals make it to the exit.
