About this board game

Inhabit the Earth is a 2015 race game for 2–4 players, played in about 90 minutes across six continent boards. Each player develops a personal menagerie of up to six creatures while competing to achieve the highest score.

Every creature is represented by up to six cards. The game includes 162 unique cards, each identifying a creature’s class, the continent and terrain it inhabits, and a special or scoring ability. Use these cards to introduce, multiply, evolve, and adapt your creatures as your menagerie grows.

Creature classes are also represented by counters. Cards trigger the movement of these counters along trails on the continent boards, while migration allows creatures to move from one board to another. Positioning your creatures helps determine how effectively you can develop them and pursue scoring opportunities.

  • Breed: Flip a creature’s counter to generate new cards.
  • Move: Advance counters along trails on the continent boards.
  • Migrate: Move creatures from one continent board to another.
  • Collect: Secure tokens that provide additional icons and point-scoring opportunities.

Breeding, movement, and migration work together as you shape your collection of creatures. The cards in your menagerie offer abilities and scoring possibilities, while the counters’ positions and the tokens you obtain contribute to your final result.

At the end of the game, points come from abilities on creature cards, the positions of creature counters on the boards, and collected tokens. The player with the most points wins. Inhabit the Earth also includes introductory-game rules for up to three players.
