About this board game

Nemo’s War (Second Edition) is a solitaire adventure for 1–4 players with an approximately 120-minute play time, set aboard Captain Nemo’s electric-powered submarine, the Nautilus.

Inspired by Jules Verne’s classic novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, the game places you in the role and mindset of Captain Nemo in the year 1870. Travel across the seas while pursuing missions shaped by science, exploration, anti-Imperialism, and war.

Your journey unfolds across a broad oceanic setting, with time measured in Action Points. Each Action Point represents approximately one week of real time, while each encounter involves one major ship, including its crew and contents.

  • Science: Pursue a mission of discovery and knowledge.
  • Exploration: Travel across the oceans aboard the Nautilus.
  • Anti-Imperialism: Act against imperial forces as Captain Nemo.
  • War: Follow a more confrontational path through your voyage.

The second edition greatly enhances Victory Point Games’ popular solitaire offering with mass-production printing and striking Ian O’Toole art and graphics throughout. Its solitaire suitability is rated 9 out of 9, making solo play the central experience.

Although normally played alone, Nemo’s War also includes fully cooperative and semi-competitive rules for 2–4 players. Whether played as a solitary voyage or with others, this edition invites you to undertake an adventure aboard one of fiction’s most astounding submarines.
