About this board game
Giro Galoppo is a card-driven horse racing game for 2–5 players, playable in about 30 minutes, and suitable for ages 6 and up.
Before the race begins, players take turns placing obstacles, or jumps, on the course. Then every player receives an identical set of cards numbered 1 through 6. These cards determine how far each horse and rider moves during the race.
Each turn, players simultaneously select one card from their hand and reveal it. The player showing the lowest value moves first. If players reveal the same value, the horse that is farther back on the course takes priority, creating an unusual race-order decision as the field spreads out.
- Choose and reveal movement cards simultaneously.
- Use cards valued from 1 to 6 to advance your horse and rider.
- Plan around jumps placed by the players.
- Displace another player’s figure by landing on it.
Movement can be affected by the obstacles ahead. If your figure’s movement would land on a jump, you lose your turn, so selecting the right card is about more than simply choosing the largest number. Timing, position, and the changing order of movement all matter as you approach the finish.
Horses can also interfere with one another directly. When your horse and rider land on another player’s figure, you displace that figure backward, opening opportunities to gain ground while sending a rival away from the finish line.
In Giro Galoppo, the winner is the first player—and, among players crossing together, the one farthest across the finish line. With simultaneous card selection, player-placed jumps, and direct positional interaction, each turn presents a compact racing puzzle.
