About this board game

Focus is a cooperative deduction game for exactly 2 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. Without saying a word, both players try to identify their partner’s secret picture from a grid filled with illustrations.

Each player also has a secret picture of their own to communicate. On alternating turns, players pick and remove a picture they believe is not their partner’s secret image. Ideally, that choice does more than narrow the possibilities: it also gives their teammate a clue about their own hidden picture.

The challenge in Focus comes from communicating through actions rather than spoken explanations. Every removal must balance two goals: protect the card your partner is seeking and make your own secret image easier to understand.

Players must read meaning into the pictures that remain, the pictures that disappear, and the intentions behind each choice. Since the game is played without a word, every decision becomes part of the conversation.

There is no room for a careless removal. If either player takes their partner’s secret card from the grid at any point, the game is lost. With its short playing time and accessible central idea, Focus offers a compact test of trust, interpretation, and silent teamwork.
