About this board game

Das Amulett is a strategic auction game for 3–6 players that plays in about 60 minutes. First released in 2001, it challenges players to collect jewels and complete an amulet before their opponents.

To win, you need either seven jewels in different colors or eight jewels of any kind. Jewels are acquired through auctions on the main board, with metal resources providing the currency for these contests.

Each turn, players bid for a powerful spell card using a fixed supply of energy stones. Every player has ten energy stones to use throughout the game, making careful bidding and timing essential. The winner places the winning bid on the acquired spell card, where it remains in play for a duration linked to the number of stones committed.

Energy stones are not permanently spent. As turns pass, stones are removed from spell cards and become available for future bids, creating a continually recycled pool of auction power. Deciding when to invest heavily and when to preserve your supply is central to the game’s competition.

  • Spell cards: Provide resource production and usually offer a special ability.
  • Metal resources: Support auctions for jewels and come in four different kinds.
  • Amulet objectives: Win by collecting seven differently colored jewels or eight jewels of any kind.
  • Recycled energy: Bid tokens return from spell cards over time for later auctions.

With its combination of spell auctions, resource production, and jewel collection, Das Amulett rewards players who manage limited energy while pursuing the right collection of treasures. The game was later reimplemented by Wizard’s Brew.
