About this board game

Colorado is a map-exploration board game for 2–4 players, lasting about 50 minutes and released in 2023. Armed with a marker and a personal map, each player explores regions, builds a railroad, and competes to collect medals worth points.

Each turn, ask another player for a specific card, such as a red 3. If they have it, they must give it to you; otherwise, they choose whether to give you a card of that color or number, or you draw randomly if they have neither. The card you receive may enter your play area—or become a gold nugget if you already have a matching card there.

Cards come in six colors, with values from 1 to 3. Every card offers two possible actions, creating opportunities to improve your position:

• Red and green: gain a nugget or pay nuggets to play a card from your hand.
• Gray and purple: draw three cards or discard two cards of the same color to play a card.
• Blue and orange: mark a space in an opened region or advance along your railroad.

Complete all three cards of a color in your play area to open an adjacent map region. Marked spaces can provide immediate rewards, while fully completed regions, a finished railroad, and completed symbol groups can each earn medals. Being first to open all regions of a color also awards a bonus medal.

Colorado rewards careful card calls and timing. Try to gain useful cards without giving opponents too much assistance, while pursuing medals on your personal route and the shared bounty board. The game ends at the close of the turn when a player collects the required set of medals, after which points are tallied.
