About this board game

Battle for Moscow: Operation Typhoon, 1941 is a 1–2 player introductory wargame about Germany’s 1941 offensive against Moscow, playable in about 50 minutes.

Set during the dramatic final phase of the invasion of Russia, the game places you in command as German forces press toward the Soviet capital. Operation Typhoon began in September 1941 with the goal of capturing Moscow and breaking the Red Army, but the advance was halted along the entire front by 5 December as exhaustion mounted and winter grew colder.

Each unit represents one German corps or Russian army, while each turn covers approximately one to two weeks. This compact scale presents the campaign as a focused historical contest, making it an accessible entry point for players who want to explore the hobby of wargaming.

The game includes a Battlesson™, offering new players something extra while they learn more about wargaming and relive this pivotal Eastern Front campaign. With a complexity rating of 2½ out of 9 and a solitaire suitability rating of 8 out of 9, it is designed to be approachable and particularly well suited to solo play.
