About this board game

Königsberg: The Soviet Attack on East Prussia, 1945 is a 1–3 player wargame about the Soviet offensive against elements of Army Group Center, with games lasting approximately 4–10 hours.

The campaign covers the January 1945 attack by the 2nd and 3rd Belorussian Fronts. Each army and corps is represented by an activation chit, while each side has a limited number of activations available during a turn. Because players do not know exactly when formations will move or fight, timing and uncertainty shape every decision.

The Soviet offensive is fast and mobile, but it can quickly outpace its infantry and headquarters. Random events may ground the Soviet Air Force, while Stalin may intervene and delay formations. Soviet players must balance the speed of their advance with the need to keep the rest of the army supported.

German formations take heavy pressure from the offensive, making every movement important. The defense centers on blocking the routes to Elbing and Königsberg, while unexpected setbacks can further complicate the German response: motorized formations may be hit by a lack of fuel, and Grossdeutschland may withdraw when its presence matters most.
