About this board game

Pyramix is a 2014 board game for 2–4 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. Players carefully dismantle a pyramid of colorful cubes, seeking the best scoring opportunities while managing the dangerous cobra cubes.

On each turn, remove one cube from the pyramid stack. A cube can be taken when two or three of its faces are exposed, provided it is not touching a cobra cube. Cobra cubes may be removed, but they are worth zero points, so taking one is usually an unwelcome necessity when no other legal choice remains.

Every cube belongs to one of four colors and carries a symbol worth 1–3 points. Removing cubes changes the structure of the pyramid: as pieces come out, other cubes slide down toward the base. This shifting arrangement creates new possibilities while gradually bringing the game toward its conclusion.

  • Remove cubes that have two or three exposed faces.
  • Avoid cubes touching cobras, unless removing a cobra is your only option.
  • Watch the pyramid shift as cubes slide toward the base.
  • Use ankhs to determine who claims cubes in each color.

The game ends when only a single layer of cubes remains in the plastic tray. At that point, remove all cobra cubes on the bottom level, along with every cube sharing a face with a cobra. For each color, the player with the most ankhs claims the remaining cubes of that color from the tray; tied players claim none.

Finally, players tally the points on their collected cubes. With its combination of spatial restrictions, shifting pieces, and color-based claiming, Pyramix challenges players to dismantle the pyramid without letting valuable opportunities—or the cobras—control the outcome.
