About this board game

Off With Their Heads! is a reveal-and-write game for 2–4 players that plays in about 30 minutes. As loyal Card Soldiers, players compete to earn the favor of the mercurial Red Queen by secretly choosing and revealing cards from their hands.

Inspired by classic card games such as poker, hearts, and euchre, each bout uses the ranking of revealed cards to determine where players stand. Your result may place you highest, lowest, or somewhere in between, and that position tells you where to record the card’s value on your personal score sheet.

Every section of the sheet offers a different strategic challenge. Claim the highest card to mark the Meadow, where completing mushrooms earns points. Land in the middle to fill the Woods while following the Jabberwock’s rule, or take the lowest rank to explore the maze-like Keep, where every recorded number becomes valuable.

• Secretly choose and reveal cards to compete for position.
• Use distinct scoring strategies in the Meadow, Woods, and Keep.
• Earn bonuses, invite iconic Wonderlandians to your Tea Party, and manipulate marks with helpful teacups.
• Build a final poker hand from cards set aside during the game.

At the end of each round, two cards are set aside. After three rounds, these cards create a six-card pool from which each player forms their best five-card poker hand for bonus points before final scoring.

With multiple ways to turn card rankings into points, Off With Their Heads! challenges players to choose when to pursue the highest or lowest position and when to aim for the middle. The player who earns the most favor across their sheet wins—and keeps their head.
