About this board game
Keltis is a 2–4 player board game that takes about 30 minutes, challenging players to advance playing pieces along colorful stone paths and score the most points.
On each turn, choose one card from your hand of eight or discard one, then move the playing piece matching its color or symbol. Each card shows a number from 0 to 10, with every number appearing twice. In each color, cards may be played in either ascending or descending order, so players must decide which paths to develop and when to stop.
Concentrating on a few paths can lead to valuable final spaces, but ending a path too early may produce negative points. Many spaces provide useful tokens, including immediate points, extra movement, and wishing stones that can protect your final score.
- Paths reward longer progress, while pieces moving only 1–3 steps score negative points.
- Pieces moving four or more steps earn increasing point values.
- Having fewer than two wishing stones brings a penalty, while five or more provide a 10-point bonus.
- A player’s piece that reaches twice the height of their other pieces scores double, whether the result is positive or negative.
The game ends when five pieces, belonging to any combination of players, reach the seventh or a higher space on their paths. Add the endgame scores to points earned during play, and the highest total wins.
Keltis also includes an alternative board that introduces a network of intersecting and overlapping roads. Players can continue onto different colors or choose between routes, while changing point values and five colored cairns create new objectives. Collecting stones of all five colors is worth 10 points, and collecting three stones of one color is worth 10 points as well.
