Mars Attacks: The Miniatures Game is a tabletop miniatures wargame for exactly two players, with battles lasting about 60 minutes. Based on Topps’ humorous 1962 Mars Attacks trading card series, it pits Martian invaders against the human resistance in a fight for Earth.

Players deploy their armies across a gaming mat made of squares, then take turns activating their models. Each activation offers a simple tactical choice: move, shoot, or engage in hand-to-hand combat. Eight-sided dice resolve attacks, determining whether weapons hit their targets or opponents dodge out of the way.

Despite its accessible rules, positioning is crucial. Moving a figure out from behind cover can leave it exposed, while surrounding an opponent or using a model’s special abilities may turn a dangerous encounter into a decisive victory. The game’s Event Card deck adds wacky surprises and cinematic action to the battlefield.
