Blob Party

About this board game

Blob Party is a cooperative party game for 4–8 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. Everyone begins as an individual and works toward one wonderfully strange goal: giving the same answers and becoming a single Mega Blob.

Each player starts with a small blob of dough and a googly eye. A category and a word are revealed, and everyone writes an answer on a dry erase card matching their googly eye. When the answers are revealed, players who wrote the same thing join together as a blob and continue working as a team.

The challenge is to predict what other players—or growing groups of players—will say. A category such as Music combined with a word such as Lightning might inspire answers including Bohemian Rhapsody, David Bowie, or Grease. Matching another answer is valuable, because every match lets blobs merge and grow larger.

• Cooperative play: Work together instead of competing for individual victory.
• Answer matching: Find the response that other players are most likely to give.
• Blob building: Merge dough blobs and add more googly eyes as matches increase.
• Shared objective: Try to unite everyone into one Mega Blob.

A new category and word arrive each round, giving individuals and existing blobs another chance to match. As the game continues, separate blobs and players combine until the whole group hopefully gives the same answer.

With its tactile dough components, silly googly eyes, and simple cooperative premise, Blob Party turns familiar answers into a physical sign of teamwork. Succeed together, and everyone wins as the Mega Blob.
