Nanolith

About this board game

Nanolith is a cyberpunk dungeon crawler for 1–4 players, with a playing time of about 120 minutes. It combines tactical cooperative encounters, deep role-playing elements, and a branching story about four characters searching for their lost memories.

The game unfolds across two books: an encounter book and a storybook. Artwork, scenario maps, and comics in the encounter book reveal a human civilisation on the brink of extinction, while scenario outcomes, acquired items, and player decisions direct you to storybook sections that advance the novel. Choices can send the narrative along significantly different paths.

Each character has a distinctive set of skills, creating a cooperative experience in which players must work together and choose their actions carefully. Five six-sided activation dice control movement, item activation, and special abilities. An aggro-based mitigation system lets players manipulate rolled values, helping them power crucial abilities even when luck is not on their side.

• Risk and reward: Push your abilities further through aggro manipulation, but accept greater danger.
• Character-specific powers: Nanoshock abilities offer a mighty one-time boost when overcharging unleashes the nanolith within a character’s DNA.

Overusing the nanomachines your body produces can lead to a nanoshock, bringing powerful benefits at a serious cost. Repeatedly crossing this threshold moves a character closer to the boundary between life and death, making every decision matter.

More than a backdrop, the prose is an integral part of Nanolith’s experience: a cyberpunk novel in which the players’ characters are the protagonists. Adventure, consequences, and storytelling combine to make every choice part of the destiny of Neo Eden.
