About this board game
Six Making is a two-player abstract strategy game played in about 25 minutes, where players build chess figures instead of seeking checkmate.
Players take turns choosing between two fundamental actions: placing one of their own pieces on the board as a chess pawn, or moving any piece already on the board. Capturing pieces creates taller stacks, adding a building element to every move.
As stacks grow, they move like different chess pieces. Even sections of a stack can be moved as the chess piece they represent, creating a game in which placement, movement, and capturing are closely connected.
- For 2 players
- Approximately 25 minutes of play
- Pieces combine into stacks with chess-like movement
- Victory comes from creating a stack of six or more pieces
Unlike traditional chess, checkmating the opposing player does not determine the winner. The aim in Six Making is to build a king: the first player to create a stack of six or more pieces with their own color on top wins the game.
Every stack can change the possibilities on the board, while captured pieces contribute to the growing structures that define the contest. With its clear objective and chess-inspired movement system, Six Making offers a focused abstract duel centered on construction as well as control.
