About this board game
Der Isses! is a two-player board game from 1998 that takes about 20 minutes to play. Players compete across a seven-by-seven grid, using secret choices, token movement, and guesses to win a best-of-seven match.
At the beginning of each round, seven tokens in seven different colors and one ring are placed randomly on eight spaces of the grid. Each player has seven disks, with one disk corresponding to each token, and secretly selects one token using these disks.
On a turn, a player may move any token Chinese Checkers-style toward the ring or guess which token the opponent has chosen. This creates a contest between advancing the pieces and trying to identify the other player’s hidden choice.

You win a round by moving the token you selected into the ring, correctly guessing the token your opponent selected, or choosing the same token as your opponent and having your opponent move that token into the ring. Each condition rewards a different outcome from the round’s secret decisions.
Because any token can be moved and guesses can end the round, every turn offers a choice between influencing the grid and testing your reading of the other player. In Der Isses!, the player who wins the best of seven rounds wins the game.
