About this board game

Thrive is a two-player abstract strategy game that takes about 30 minutes to play, as two lotus flowers compete to control the pond.

The rules are simple, but the game grows more complex as play continues. On each turn, you first move a piece, then add two additional pegs to any of your pieces. These pegs create more possibilities for movement on future turns, allowing the position to develop in increasingly tactical ways.

Every decision contributes to the changing shape of the game. A move can address the immediate position, while the pegs you add help determine the choices available later. This combination gives Thrive a steadily expanding sense of possibility without relying on complicated starting rules.
