About this board game
Victory: World War II is a two-to-four-player block war game about World War II, with an approximate playing time of 120 minutes. Originally released in 1998 as Victory: The Blocks of War, it is published by Columbia Games.
The game uses modular maps and World War II units to create a flexible battlefield for each contest. Its rules feature a stripped-down Front system, removing the whole command control element while simplifying movement and unit production.
The base game includes block sets for the blue and red players, along with maps 1 through 4. Additional products expand the available colors, forces, maps, and strategic options.
- Basic block sets in four additional colors: black, orange, green, and gray
- Ten-unit elite sets for each color
- Extra maps featuring various terrain
- A Logistics Set that changes production and adds other strategic elements
These supplements allow the original system to grow beyond its core contents while retaining its modular map approach. The game also has a Victory FAQ based on information from its rules forum and elsewhere.
Victory: World War II was reimplemented by a second edition published in 2019. That edition includes the Logistics Set and elements from the Elite Blocksets, with maps 1, 2, 6, and 7 included.
