About this board game
Judge Dredd is a crime-fighting game for 2–6 players, released in 1982, with a playing time of about 90 minutes. Set in Mega-City One, the vast metropolis of the 22nd century, it challenges players to arrest notorious lawbreakers and build the strongest case of captured criminals.
Crimes and perps are selected randomly, creating a changing series of arrest attempts. To overcome each perp, players must combine their action cards and their Judge’s Combat Factors with die rolls. Success means taking both the perp card and the associated crime card.
Captured cards remain in a player’s hand until the end of the game, when totals are compared to determine the winner. Every arrest attempt carries risk, however: Judges who are defeated must spend time recovering in the Intensive Care Unit.
The game draws on the dangerous world of Mega-City One, where crime ranges from littering to murder and notorious threats include the Angel Gang, Judge Death, and Orlok The Assassin. Some opponents are tough enough that a Judge may need a robodoc to recover.
