About this board game

Pumafiosi is a card game for 2–5 players that combines simple trick-taking with precarious press-your-luck decisions in about 30 minutes.

Set within a ruthless Pumafiosi family, the hierarchy runs from the boss down to the lowest Picciotti. Everyone wants to rise, but standing out too much can send you to prison—or worse, leave you at the mercy of rival families.

Each trick creates a difficult tactical choice. The player who plays the second-highest card wins the round and decides where to place that winning card in the hierarchy. Even a weak card can be placed at the top, letting you stake a claim on the valuable big boss points.

That tempting position comes with a serious risk. Higher-valued cards can knock cards down one or more steps in the hierarchy, and the owner of a falling card is penalized. Choosing when to reach for the top—and when to keep your head out of the firing line—is the heart of the game.

Designed by Reiner Knizia, Pumafiosi refines the ideas of the older title Rooster Booster with a narrower deck, a tailored theme, and a stronger two-player experience. Its compact rules create layered decisions as every trick can improve your position, expose your cards to danger, or punish an opponent who has climbed too high.
