About this board game

Costume Party Detective is a 2018 deduction and elimination game for 2–6 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. At a lively costume party, everyone is disguised, and you know only the identity of your own secret character.

Each player is secretly assigned one of twenty unique meeple characters using character cards. The party unfolds across a board as players roam between rooms, mingle, and try to identify the guests around them. Your goal is to stay in the game while the other hidden identities are gradually exposed.

On your turn, roll the die and move any character on the board according to the simple movement rules. A black result forces you to act. You can remove one meeple from the room containing your secret character, revealing vital information about your identity, or draw the top card from the character deck.

• A character shown on a drawn card leaves the party and is removed from the game.
• You may draw a character card at most three times.
• After three draws, you must remove a character in the same room as your secret character.
• If you are alone in a room after using all three draws, you are dishonored and must reveal yourself.

If your secret character is removed, reveal your character card and leave the game. The last player whose character remains in play wins. With its hidden identities, simple movement, and tense choices about when to expose information, Costume Party Detective turns a crowded celebration into a race to survive the unmasking.
