About this board game

echoes: Die Violine is a cooperative audio mystery game for 1–6 players, with a playing time of about 60 minutes. Set in the Burg Theater in Vienna in 1788, it challenges you to decode a secret code and solve a case involving information passed on unnoticed.

Using the free app, players scan the game’s objects to hear mysterious noises, voices, and conversations. Each sound is connected to a piece of the story, and every echo may contain a clue about what happened and how the events fit together.

Your goal is to assemble 24 story parts in the correct order. Each part is represented by an object, either a game board or a card. The complete story is divided into six chapters, with one game board representing each chapter.

• Scan objects with the app to hear their associated echoes.
• Identify which three object cards belong to each chapter.
• Arrange those cards in the correct sequence.
• Use the app’s feedback to check your deductions.

If your arrangement is incorrect, the app indicates which cards are wrong or out of place. When you solve a chapter correctly, you can listen to the entire chapter at once. Pay close attention: the complete chapter reveals additional hints that can help you progress.

The physical objects also provide clues from time to time, so careful observation matters alongside attentive listening. Work together, compare what you hear, and follow the trail of voices and noises through the Burg Theater.
