About this board game
Afrika: The North African Campaign, 1940-1942 is a low-complexity operational simulation for 1-2 players, covering the North African Campaign from September 1940 through December 1942, with play lasting up to 720 minutes.
Take command of the Axis or Commonwealth forces as the campaign moves from Italy’s invasion of Egypt to the final Axis defeat in North Africa. Recreate the dramatic advances and withdrawals involving the Italian Army, Erwin Rommel’s German contingent, and Montgomery’s pursuit after El Alamein.
This is a game of fast-paced mobile warfare across the rocky sands. The game’s easy-to-use supply system requires no writing while still providing a meaningful logistical aspect. Its operational scale places each game turn at one month, each hex at 10 miles or 16 kilometers, and units from regiment to division.
- High solitaire playability for solo gaming
- Low complexity within The Gamers’ Standard Combat Series
- A campaign spanning September 1940 to December 1942
- Two maps, 280 counters, two rulebooks, and two six-sided dice
Can the Axis seize the Nile Delta, or can the Commonwealth drive the Axis armor out of Egypt for good? Afrika provides the tools to explore these possibilities in a streamlined simulation designed to be fast, fun, and a reasonable representation of the campaign rather than a definitive study.
As the second game in the Standard Combat Series, Afrika refines the system introduced with Stalingrad Pocket. Experienced players can quickly become comfortable with its rules, while the focused design offers a more accessible alternative to The Gamers’ more complex products.
