About this board game

3 sind eine zu viel! is a card game for 2–4 players that plays in about 25 minutes. Players decide whether to hold back or hurry forward as they choose when to play their number cards.

To begin, place the start cards in the middle of the table. Each player receives a deck of twenty cards and draws a hand of eight cards. On every turn, a player adds one number card from their hand to the shared display, placing it in its position within a numerical sequence.

When a player adds the fifth card to a row, they must take between one and three cards from the display. The number of cards taken depends on the position of the card they played. These cards are placed in front of the player and sorted by color, creating the foundation for end-game scoring.

• One or two cards in a color earn positive points.
• A third card in that color causes those cards to earn negative points instead.
• Having cards in many different colors can provide bonus points during the game and at its end.

This scoring system makes every addition to the display important. Collecting colors can help build points, but taking too many cards of one color can turn a promising collection into a penalty.
