About this board game

Anno Domini: Natur is a chronological card game for 2–8 players, with play taking about 30 minutes. This 1998 set challenges players to arrange nature-related historical events in the correct order while relying on both knowledge and bluffing.

The set contains 340 cards. Each card describes a historical event on one side and shows the year, sometimes with a specific date, on the other. Players receive nine cards each, or fewer for a shorter game, and may look only at the descriptions.

On a turn, a player adds one card to the growing timeline, trying to place it chronologically among the cards already played. Instead of adding a card, a player may challenge the current order. All cards are then turned over to reveal the correct years.

• If the timeline is correct, the doubting player receives two cards and skips a turn.
• If the timeline is incorrect, the previous player receives three cards.
• The first player to get rid of all their cards wins.

Many events are obscure or difficult to date exactly, so certainty is never guaranteed. In Anno Domini: Natur, a convincing bluff can matter just as much as historical knowledge, creating surprises and lively social play.

The nature set can be played on its own or combined with other sets in the Anno Domini series. There is no English edition, but the game may help improve existing German skills—or provide a reason to learn German in the first place.
