About this board game

Schrödinger’s Cats is a deduction and challenge game for 2–6 players, with play lasting about 30 minutes. Players become cat physicists conducting experiments in Schrödinger’s lab, where every claim concerns the uncertain contents of the boxes.

Each player begins with six cards and a physicist card. The cards show live cats, dead cats, or empty boxes, and players try to determine the minimum number of one identical type among all the cards in play.

On a turn, the current player asserts how many cards of a chosen type are present. The next player must either increase the number in the claim or call it. A call tests whether the hypothesis is correct—or whether the challenger was right to doubt it.

• Choose a claim about live cats, dead cats, or empty boxes.
• Raise the claim or call the previous player.
• Use a physicist’s special ability once during the round.
• Survive the result while another player is eliminated.

When a player calls, the player who was right stays in the game, while the other player is eliminated. Each remaining player then receives a new hand with one fewer card, making the following rounds increasingly constrained.

Every physicist has a special ability that can help prove a hypothesis or debunk someone else’s. Use it carefully as you assess the cards, judge the confidence behind each assertion, and decide when uncertainty has become an opportunity to call.

Rounds continue until only one player remains. Released in 2015, Schrödinger’s Cats turns the famous cat-in-a-box thought experiment into a competitive contest of claims, challenges, and survival—without risking real kittens or radioactive particles.
