About this board game

Mysterious Dungeons is a 25-minute maze-building game for 1–5 players, released in 2016. Each player creates a personal dungeon from tiles, then searches its corridors for valuable treasures while trying to avoid dangerous creatures.

Every game uses 16 tiles on each player’s board. The set contains 20 predefined tiles, so four tiles are left unused during each gameplay. On every move, the leading player randomly selects the tile, while each player decides where to place it and which orientation to use.

This shared selection rule gives the maze-building process an unpredictable rhythm, but every player still controls the shape of their own dungeon. Carefully connecting corridors can determine which treasures are accessible from the entrance.

• Construct a personal maze from 16 tiles.
• Place each randomly selected tile in the position and orientation you choose.
• Mark reachable treasures with transparent colored markers.
• Watch out for ghosts, spiders, and trolls, which each cost 2 points.

At the end of the game, players trace the routes they can reach from the maze entrance and mark the treasures connected to those paths. The player who collects the most valuable treasures wins, provided the dungeon’s monsters have not reduced their score too far.

With its individual boards, changing tile selection, and accessible treasure-marking system, Mysterious Dungeons focuses on building routes and making the most of the maze you construct. Keep an eye on the hazards as you explore the underworld, because the richest-looking path may also contain the costliest dangers.
