About this board game

Quattro Trick-Taking is a 3–4-player trick-taking game played in about 60 minutes, where players pursue different scoring goals while playing cards into shared tricks.

The game uses standard trick-taking rules: players must follow suit when possible, and red is always trump. The deck contains four suits, with cards numbered from 1 to 12. The challenge comes from navigating the goals your fellow players have established while trying to fulfill your own bid.

In a four-player game, the session lasts four rounds, and each round uses a different bidding method. These changing systems mean players may not be competing for the same cards or trick outcomes throughout the entire game.

  • Take colored chips to indicate the color of the winning card you will play in a trick.
  • Indicate the sum of the cards you will collect over the entire hand.
  • Choose colors and/or ranks, such as even or odd cards, that you will not use to win tricks.
  • Select condition cards, such as taking two 7s or winning a trick with a 4–6.

Condition cards create an especially demanding target: you score only if you satisfy all of the conditions you chose during the hand. Meanwhile, other players may be aiming for entirely different results, making every trick a puzzle of timing, card values, suits, and competing objectives.

With its rotating bidding methods and shared tricks, Quattro Trick-Taking asks you to adapt from round to round. Read the table, manage your plays, and pursue your chosen goals without losing sight of what everyone else is trying to accomplish.
