About this board game
House of Borgia is a bluffing dice game for 2–6 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Set in 1492, it places you in a power struggle surrounding a church without a pope, as the Borgia family reaches the height of its influence.
The Cardinals will soon gather for the Conclave, but your reputation cannot win you the seat. Instead, you must secretly control the Cardinal who can gain the most influence. Each player receives a hidden identity representing the Cardinal they want to favor, and keeping that identity secret is essential.
Six Cardinal cards are randomly arranged in an ascending, ladder-like line. A Cardinal’s position determines how much influence they gain at the end of the turn. Using dice and Liar’s Dice-style bluffing, players manipulate the Cardinals’ positions, alter how much influence they have, or accuse another player of controlling a particular Cardinal.
- Hidden identities create a secret objective for every player.
- Dice and bluffing let players shape the Cardinals’ influence.
- Accusations can expose another player’s suspected allegiance.
House of Borgia combines the concealed-role tension of a game such as Coup with the deceptive dice play of Liar’s Dice. It is a quick contest of lies, influence, and carefully chosen risks.
At the end of the game, victory goes to the player secretly controlling the Cardinal with the most influence. However, if another player has accurately paired you with a Rumor Card matching your secret identity, you lose—regardless of how much influence your Cardinal has gained.
