About this board game

Ada Lovelace: Consulting Mathematician is a solo roll-and-write game for one player, designed to play in about 20 minutes. Set in the summer of 1842, it places you in the Archimedes’ Museum of Mathematics during a grand gathering of mathematicians.

A terrible crime has interrupted the soiree: the priceless Lebombo Bone artefact has been stolen. Evidence is scattered across the museum grounds, and Ada Lovelace—pioneer of the Analytical Machine and part-time sleuth—must examine each room and assess the clues before the trail goes cold.

During play, you assemble polyomino pieces on a map of the Archimedes’ Museum of Mathematics. Your aim is to capture key pieces of criminal evidence while searching the museum efficiently.

• Capture evidence scattered across the grounds.
• Unlock abilities that may help you search more efficiently on future turns.
• Complete five rounds before scoring your investigation.

At the end of the game, your score is based on how many pieces of evidence you captured, how many rooms you searched, and how many abilities you unlocked. Each decision contributes to the final assessment of Ada’s investigation.

Originally released in 2017, Ada Lovelace: Consulting Mathematician was a finalist in the GenCan’t Roll and Write Contest, 2017. It offers a focused solo puzzle built around polyomino placement, museum exploration, and the search for a stolen artefact.
