About this board game
Axis & Allies Air Force Miniatures: Angels 20 is a fast-paced World War II aerial combat game for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 30 minutes. Players command one or more famous warplanes in dogfights fought across a hexagonal map.
Each turn represents approximately 10–15 seconds of combat, as players determine initiative, move their aircraft, and attack opponents. The game uses six levels of altitude, while hexes represent roughly 500 yards across. Victory comes through player elimination or by comparing victory point totals, with a lucky shot sometimes making the difference.
This starter set focuses primarily on aircraft from the early years of the war. Its included scenarios cover several different aerial challenges, including interception, limited fuel, Schnellbomber action, standard engagements, and bomber escorts.
- Six prepainted miniature planes
- All 31 stat cards for the set
- Two battle map sections and a counter sheet
- Four six-sided dice and a rulebook
Optional rules add further battlefield conditions and tactical complications, including clouds, flak fields, barrage balloons, and night combat. These additions help vary the atmosphere and challenges of each engagement.
Axis & Allies Air Force Miniatures: Angels 20 also includes a conversion appendix, allowing its aircraft to be used with the Axis & Allies Miniatures Land Game. With its compact play time, prepainted aircraft, and scenario-based aerial battles, it offers a focused way to recreate WWII air combat on the tabletop.
