About this board game
Anima: Tactics is a skirmish-level miniatures combat game for 2 players, with games lasting around 60 minutes. Set in the world of Anima: Beyond Fantasy, it pits heroic characters against one another in a struggle between Light and Dark.
Before the battle, each player builds a party by selecting characters, equipment, and other advantages. The total value of the party must not exceed the fixed level limit chosen for the game; a standard game uses 250 levels. In that format, each player typically fields 4–6 models.
Faction and affiliation choices shape the forces you can assemble. A party cannot normally include characters from both the Light and Darkness faction, unless every character belongs to the same affiliation. The game features eight affiliations, including the Church, the Empire, and the Black Sun trading cartel.
- Combat system: Uses 10-sided dice, character stat cards, and asset cards.
- Custom forces: Combine characters, equipment, and other advantages within the chosen level limit.
- Victory: After ten turns, the player with the most levels of characters still on the battlefield wins.
Stat cards define the characters, while asset cards provide new abilities that can expand what those characters do during the game. Action counters and state counters support the battle as the opposing forces clash.
Two starter sets are available: one for the Light faction and one for the Dark faction. Each includes two unpainted pewter figures worth around 100 levels, two advantage cards, a rulebook, one ten-sided die, and several action and state counters. Released in 2006, Anima: Tactics offers a focused miniatures battle experience built around faction identity, force construction, and a clear ten-turn objective.
