About this board game

Philharmonix is a worker placement game for 1–4 players that takes about 150 minutes, placing you in charge of a space orchestra competing for prestige in the Malaya sector.

Send your orchestra on missions to perform on different planets, recruit talented musicians, and train musicians and conductors to reach their full potential. You will also create symphonies, perform them for patrons, and work to satisfy the sponsors who support your concerts while facing unexpected challenges.

Each round, action points are randomized, so efficient planning is essential. On your turn, choose one of six major actions or take the basic move action. Moving across the Malayan planets or gaining money can help prepare your orchestra for its next opportunity.

• Recruit musicians and collect performers for your orchestra.
• Train musicians and conductors to develop your capabilities.
• Create and perform symphonies to earn Prestige.
• Gain patrons and claim their support.
• Expand your knowledge and experience as you build your orchestra.

Occupied actions may require additional action points, creating competition for the most useful choices. Free actions can also be used to manipulate your gameplay, giving you more ways to adapt your plans during each turn.

Prestige is mainly earned by performing symphonies and recording “Records,” which are objectives. You can also gain Prestige through region majority, collecting musicians, and claiming patrons.

After five rounds, the player with the most Prestige wins and is proclaimed the best space orchestra manager. With its blend of science-fiction setting, music, worker placement, randomized action points, and strategic performance planning, Philharmonix offers an ambitious orchestral competition among the planets.
