About this board game
Guerilla is a multiplayer simulation card-wargame for 3–6 players, with a listed play time of 120 minutes and variable sessions lasting from one to four hours. Players can choose to play a single hand or combine three or more hands for a longer game.
Three to six players struggle for control of the government as rebel forces wage civil war against those in power. The central twist is a clever fog of war: each player simultaneously commands both government and rebel forces while secretly backing either the government or rebel cause.
This divided role creates constant uncertainty. Players may score for their own side, pursue personal gains, or sacrifice resources for an apparent ally whose true loyalty remains uncertain. The Revolution card can change loyalties and cloud the issue again, even after players believe they have identified who supports whom.
- Eliminate opposing forces to score.
- Manipulate the media and world opinion.
- Control installations such as the Port or Airfield to gain special abilities.
- Use government air power and armor columns against guerrilla bands that ambush and disappear into the jungle.
If atrocities are committed, the U.N. may intervene and attempt to stop open warfare. The conflict can then shift toward secret police searching for traitors, propaganda battles for public support, and assassins targeting influential leaders to paralyze opposing troops.
In Guerilla, the struggle changes as forces are eliminated, installations change hands, and loyalties become harder to read. The result is a tense contest between personal objectives, hidden allegiance, and the changing fortunes of a civil war.
