About this board game
Goita is a Japanese chessmen card game for 3–4 players, played in about 30 minutes. It blends skill and chance in a competitive contest where players aim to collect more Victory Points than their opponents, and to do so quickly.
In the standard four-player game, participants form two pairs, with partners sitting opposite each other at the same table. Each player receives a hand of eight cards, and every card features an image of a Japanese chessman.
The partnership format gives Goita a distinct social structure, bringing two teams into direct competition. Players work within this four-player setup while pursuing the central goal of gathering Victory Points faster than the opposing pair.
- For 3–4 players
- Approximately 30 minutes of play time
- Partnership play for four players, with partners seated opposite one another
- Eight Japanese chessmen cards dealt to each player
- Victory Point markers included
The set also provides a three-player battle royal variant, offering a different way to play when three people are available. This variant expands the game beyond its team-based format while retaining the Japanese chessmen card theme.
In the Grimpeur/Japon Brand version, the cards are made of hard cardboard. With its combination of card play, changing fortunes, and Victory Point racing, Goita presents a compact Japanese card game experience rooted in both competition and partnership.
